Stingray barb through the chest, ouch...ironically he wasn't killed by a crocodile.

The nature of his job meant that it would eventually lead to his death. Went to Australia Zoo less than a year ago and, after seeing the size of the crocodiles he handled, thought it would be one of them that caught him cold one day. RIP Steve

It is indeed sad news. He's certainly educated millions of kids and adults alike the world over with his high energy and love of nature and has been vocal and influential in conservation issues in Aus. RIP

At least he dies while doing something he loves, not due to old age or sickness.

He always showed great zest and enthusiasm for his work. I am shocked and sad to hear of his demise.
