It should be relatively easy to find someone to teach you a Filipino language if you hang out at or around Worldwide on the weekends and ask around. I guess why you want to learn it is none of my business.

Wife is from Pampanga. I have to be careful, the wife would not like a working girl to be giving me private lessons! I know there are many Pinoys on here so I thought I would give it a try here first. No response so next stop Worldwide.

Good luck! I think you'd find out if she was a working girl pretty quickly....hehe. Tiger: I was gonna ask the same question. Only thing I can figure is that he wants to surprise her by suddenly being able to speak her language.

And why not learn tagalog instead only one dialect? Not everybody in the Philippines can understand Pampangan. It sounds funny though... a little bit like guttural Dutch.

I have learnt a few words but they tend to be of the rude variety from my wife and the childish variety from my step-daughter. I just want something a bit more structured. My wife may be the most wonderful person in the world but she is not a good teacher. She is in Phils for a few months as she is about to have a baby so I thought it would be fun to use this time to surprise her. |
