mmm, i've spent the last 6 weekends going out there to apartment hunt and am moving over this coming weekend. Can't say there's much of a difference between the fast and the slow - 5 minutes????
don't know about problem of catching peak hour ferries.
and kids - don't have any but have seen a good few expat babies and kids about.

I have been on Lamma two weeks now and find it very peaceful compared to HK Island, have had no problems with the ferries. Lots of dogs and kids and more western faces here than where I was living in Sydney so no language problems. People in general on the Lamma seem to be more relaxed.

Hi,

Can anybody tell me whether motorcycles are allowed in Lamma? I know about cars not being allowed.

Thanks!

Thanks, Lammarite. No motorbikes, huh? not even a tiny one? how about a one-wheeled?

....OK, OK. I get it.

BTW, I saw this question asked in the previous page, but not answered: how easy is it to find gardened flats? I currently live in a house with a huge garden, moving to Lamma in September and would hate to cage myself into an ungardened apt, being so spoiled as I am. The whole reason I am moving to Lamma and not to Kowloon is to have green space. I would love to have my own little patch of land to make a barbie cook fragrant fish from the fragrant harbour. mmm

I believe there is quite a shortage of flats on Lamma as it is becoming more and more popular with people realising that a 30 minute ferry ride is well worth a rent of HKD5,000 for a 700sqft flat.
The only way you'll find a place is by going there and asking agents and people of a like minded disposition to you who live there and may know of someone moving etc.
