Dependent Visa Help please...

How does one renew the annual/one-year dependent visa? Is it renewed automatically, or does one need to fill out forms and then actually leave HK to activate it, like with the first visa?

Thanks muchly.

You need to fill out a form requesting an extension of stay:
http://www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/id91.pdf
You do not need to leave when the extension is granted.

Thanks PDLM. Do you know if we just fill out the form and mail it in, or do you know where we hand this in (which floor, etc.)?

Thanks so much again.

you can resubmit either in Wanchai or at the new immigration offices in Sha Tin. Better if you go online and book an appointment time otherwise you may find yourself at the back of a long queue.

jaetee - just fill out the form, and also the sponser and dependant declarations. Book an appointment online (www.esd.gov.hk) at whichever immigration centre is convenient to you and just go along with all the necessary documentation and don't forget yours and your sponsers passports. They'll take all the documents and give you another appointment to return to collect your new visa.

Thanks so much guys - sorry to ask questions before reading all the pages of the document. **embarrassed**

Sorry for another dumb question - which is the best link for booking appointments? I looked at the one jaykay listed above, but only see a link for applying for a HK SAR Smart Card. Help please....

Much thanks again.

don't sweat it, the immigration department doesn't know what it needs sometimes. When I orginally applied for my dependents visa I was given two different forms by two different people. After going to Sha Tin with what was supposed to be the wrong form, and being given another one and redirected to Wanchai, I handed in my new form only to be told it was the wrong one and I would need the original one. Lucky for me I anticipated them being difficult and took EVERYTHING. They seemed a bit disappointed when I pulled it out of the bag
