Try the Nokia Multimedia Converter. It is free, the only catch is that you have to register an email address and request a key.

Videora also has a free converter i believe you can use for your ipod or mobile phone.

Yeah it is.

Nero had a utility called Recode which comes bundled with their retail software and that works well too.
