In the alternative you could use one of those services that give you a US address and then they forward your mail to HK. Then every internet site would ship to you.

The one I was going to use went bust earlier this year. Anyone else use these services and have recommendations?

BTW Ann Taylor told me they don't ship out to HK. Mitchell Gold says it does, in case you have a sofa emergency :-)

Hello All. First, by introduction, I am an assignment manager in the US, which basically means that I work with companies to relocate their employees, ensure their compensation is moving forward accordingly, etc. I am also going to be moving to Hong Kong myself in about 2 weeks through the end of the year.

In answer tot his question about international mail forwarding, here are the two I recommend to my clients, and I know they work well (the first is preferred).

We've been using myus.com for last 2 years. Service is not bad, but I wouldn't recommend it for big/heavy parcels as the postage costs are ridiculously high. Also, you tend to get mail with at least a month's delay. We use it mostly for other mail that requires a US address.

For heavy stuff there's a bunch of sites that ship to HK:
amazon.com for books
bodybuilding.com for protien powder and such

You can get most of what you need here, although some of it may be slightly higher priced. Just check the on-line shipping policy for your favorite sites. They should say whether they support international or not.

I use usglobalmail.com and have been quite happy with them. With that said, I just moved here two months ago and have only gotten two shipments from them. They seem to be very friendly over the phone as well as user-friendly. I checked out myus.com too but can't remember why I didn't end up using them.

My parents are our mail forwarding service. We just changed our US address to theirs and they can filter and send mail.
