Help!! What/how are all you tall people (and maybe a little wide) doing in the bedroom? The beds are way too small for my husband to fit into, let alone two of us.

Looking at serviced apartments (3 month stay) in Central and TST, even increased my budget to $40K but just am not able to get a king size bed anywhere.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated

It seems, in China it's easier than in Hong Kong.

Strangely, it is harder at IKEA to find beds for Europeans than at local stores.

I sleep in a custom queen sized bed myself. I don't think they make beds this solid anywhere. The movers hate me when they realize how heavy it is I definitely recommend getting a custom one made.

You can get a Queen-Size bed at IKEA, even 200cm long. But when you want to buy bedlinen, they might tell you that they never ever sold this kind of bed.

Depends on how big you need it I guess? At Pricerite you can choose long or short. - the long fits my 6'3" bf. But there is not much floorspace left around the bed.

I'm doing the serviced apartment thing where all furniture is in place.

Thanks for your replies, when we settle here will definately have a big one...but, now I am struggling, may have to stay at a hotel till next year...it's only money I guess

The beds at Four Seasons Place are OK. Not super wide, but long enough. And should be just about within your budget.

Regarding Ikea: Ikea only sells these small beds in Asia, they burnt themselves the first time they tried to enter the Japanese market with selling the same size and style as they do at home in Sweden. It didn't work out that well and they had to pull out until they re-entered a few months ago when they opened their a store in Tokyo.

The most bizarre thing in Hong Kong is not the small beds, it is the small bedrooms, at some of the brand new apartments I had a look at initially, the bedrooms (!) were too small for me to stretch out my toes in, and I am only 183 (6ft) tall!!! That is ridicolous if anything!!!

There seem to be no standards here for anything. This can be a good thing or a bad thing.

Sometimes a single bed is quite small, sometimes a double bed is smaller than two single beds pushed together.


Just some rules for the newcomers:

Things around here are different than at home.

Some things that are difficult to do at home are easy to do here.

Some things that are easy to do at home are very difficult to accomplish here.

Nothing is easy, but anything is possible.
