Q for Indians regarding Indian maids in Hongkong

Im relocating to Hongkong from the USA.

What is the best way to bring in an Indian maid frm India into Hongkong? Is it difficult?

Are there any Indian maids available locally? How much does a live in maid cost? And live out?

Look forward to some information.

Thanks
ANYC

Take a look at some of the FAQ's on www.amahnet.com

Also, PLEASE stop posting on every sub forum. We've just spent the last 10 minutes tracking down your posts and deleting them. When you make us do that sort of work... it definately decreases our ability and desire to help you.

Its not difficult to bring in a helper from India. You just need to complete a Hong Kong Visa Application Form (ID 812) and four copies of a Standardized Employment Contract (ID 407) and submit it to the Immigration Dept along with passport, proof of income etc.

Miniumum wage is HK$3270, many employers pay above Min - this is entirely up to you. There are Indian helpers available locally but it may take you a while to find the right candidate.

Best of luck!
Rani

anyc, with live-out you will run the risk of breaking the law as live-out under new (and probably even renewed) contracts have been made illegal by HK Immig if the household help is on a domestic helper visa (as the Indian lady you're thinking of will likely be). Besides the wage mentioned by Rani, there's a HKD400/mth tax for such "imported" help to be paid quarterly or annually.

Months ago I read a thread on this or another site by a lady in HK offering to bring in Nepalese domestic helpers (must be "the other site" because I seem to remember that in typical fashion for that site the thread accelerated downhill when a flame-thrower immediately jumped on to her with wild accusations of presumed exploitation and what have you!).

Dear ANYC,
