Hi Everone, I want to start doing sports climbing. You know the kind of climbing that you do on a plastic wall filled with funny looking grips. I found quite a lot of "climbing walls" but not that many courses for a beginner to get going. Can anyone give me some recommendations on who to talk to? anyone doing it? or are all you HK climbers the "rock climbing" type? love, zatoichi

Try contacting the YMCA in TST... http://www.ymcahk.org.hk/FW/ I did both their introductory and elementary course's earlier this year, definitely recommend them. B.

Thanks. I will contact them! Just a (perhaps stupid) question: When climibing you always need to be two people right? one climbing and one managing the rope?

Not always, when Top Rope climbing or Lead climbing then yes, there are two of you involved, 1 climber + 1 Belayer. But another form of climbing is bouldering which is done without the use of ropes.

Hei Zatoichi, I started climbing a few months back (YMCA, elementary course), and now i'm looking for someone to start climbing with again. If you want, we can go climbing together sometimes.

Off memory, certification for the Y wall happens on Friday nights. You should call ahead to confirm that an instructor will be there. They're generally pretty helpful.
