Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the dependent visa has a limit on how long you can work for?? I thought the laws have changed regarding dependents of a perm. res?? The lady at the immigration office said there's a 1 yr limit and you need to apply for an extension afterwards...

All Dependent (and Employment for that matter) visas are issued in short chunks. Normally one year for the first one then two-year increments thereafter (although this can vary a bit). When you get to 7 years continuous you can apply for PR yourself. The extensions are just a formality if your circumstances haven't changed.
