It is still shorter than some of the disclaimers that I see at the bottom of every email I get from some folks I know in the various banks in HK.

I was once invited to a garden party and told not to wear black and white otherwise I might get confused for staff! I've borne it in mind ever since...

Darkangel is on a distinguished road
it's just a birthday party

I don't find her email invite offensive at all. it's just an email invite to friends ...it's better to put down the dress code! Somehow some friends might not like her style and fwded it out to ppl that are not in the circle.

Poor girl she is supposed to have fun at her 21st birthday party but ppl condemned her just because she is rich enough to throw a party at ritz and wrote a non-traditional invitation email?

Well I do not think it is offensive either..it is just a bit too "tight ass" and I guess that's why ppl fwd it...
I might be wrong but for complain please contact my PA.

u know, the first impression when i read it this morning was, that she was playing a prank by gate crashing someone else's party in ritz...

that's about as much double faced as i can think of...

Sounds like one of those places where people go to be seen and show off how rich they are, rather than actually enjoying themselves. London is full of places like that. I bet that party was a barrel of fun

My take:

If it's humor, then fine. She just has a bad one.

If it's serious, my take is:

It's really no big deal. Okay, it's at the Ritz. But she will only serve champagne and cake, and she sounds as if it's such a big deal. There's no roast beef carving or a fancy dinner. So really, is there anything to brag about?

And she's even cheap enough not to send it in a swanky paper invite!!!
