Actually .. even now, Champagne and cake would be a bit above my pay grade.

It has nothing to do with the place. Though I must say a champagne and cake evening is not at the top of the swanky party list

IMO, I'd rather be fed than be in a pretentious cocktail.

well, i bot myself a cheap bottle of fermented agave plant and drank a glass, flop into bed till the next morning. 8-P

those were the times... dun think i ever celebrated any birthday after like 10y.o.
