But a word of caution: These are in-ear phones, and as such might not be the best for the gym (especially if you're running, etc.). Reason is, when t he cord moves, or you move, or the phones move ever so slightly in your ear, there can be quite a lot of noise, similar to when you stick your fingers in your ear and make ever so slight movements. Some people say it's not a problem and others hate it.

Also, the Creative EP-630's are a good sounding, cheaper option to the senns. they look exactly the same, and are manufactured by the same company (called Fosters), but use different drivers. I have them myself, and they're perfectly good enough for me. should cost about 190hkd and you can get them in some stores at the wanchai computer centre or mongkok computer centre. As a matter of fact, they might even have the senns at the computer centres too..

Good luck, but I'd think about other possible options for jogging headphones.

Thanks for the tip on the EP-630's and Kingsound . I'll check them out.

Yeah I know what you mean about the stethoscope effect. My first in-ear phones were E2c which I followed up with E5c. First few times using the E2cs I was feeling nauteous but got used to them after a while. None the less there are still days where it gets to me particularly with the depth of ear canal penetration and total sound deadening the Shures have.

The good thing I read about the CX-300s is that due to the thin and light cabling the stethoscope effect, albeit there, isn't as bad as it could be. Hard to say until I try them but I'm currently using a pair of Panasonic RP-HJE50-S in-ear phones for the gym. In a word they're crap. Crap sound stage and crap designed J style wiring with a heavy chord adapter that pulls on your ears. But the stethoscope effect isn't that bad with them. Well not compared to the Shures and their thick cabling.

Cheers

Yeah gym phones are tough to choose. I heard that Sennheiser had a 'sport' line, but I'm not sure what is up with them. I wouldn't know where to get them in Hong Kong either.

To clarify:
- Creative EP630's are found in the computer arcades
- They also come in the form of Edifier H260 (which includes a case)
- Senn CX300's are found at kingsound
- Senn CX300's and Edifiers come with a J-cord, while Creatives are Y

I ended up going with the EP630's you mentioned. They seemed to get good reviews and to be essentially the same as the CX300's without Senns price premium. Thin and lightweight chord too so I shouldn't get too much troubles with pulling on my ears or stethescoping. Just have to be careful with them. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet so the sound verdict will have to wait but for the gym they should do well. Thanks again for the tip

My partner and I both use Senn PX200 for sports... they're very light weight and, also foldable.
Am thinking of getting the PXC300 for home and travelling though, are they really noise cancelling?

Just got into this headfi thing. Bought me some Sennheiser 280 Pros and a PA2V2 amp. I use Sony EX-90LPs when I'm out and about. I also have some Koss Spark Plugs with Etymotic ear flanges, but they're absolutely atrocious

Guess I am just about the only

Grado fan out here :-)

Current cheap combo
Computer (CDs ISOed)
ESI Juli (soundcard)
Little Dot II+ (tube amp)
MS-1 (headphone)

Have tried Allesandro + Grados, GS 1K RS1, MS Pro, MS 2, 325i various Stax; all just about out of my price range but something to aspire to.

Buying just about any headphone amp will give you a great bang for the buck. I'm partial to tubes but that's just me for the music I listen to. Mainly Jazz

Cheers

Nice, I'm considering getting some Grado SR-80s soon. Did you get your Alessandros here or did you order them direct?

Don't go for Bose if you have small ear holes! I bought a pair of triports and even with the smallest adaptors they stlll have a habit of falling out of my ears, yes they sound great though much better than my senheissers which were comfortable though.

Actually got mine from Singapore.

I'm not too sure about the shops in Hong Kong just yet, but the shop whom I picked up in Singapore allows for tons of testing. In fact a lot of people go there to chill out and just listen to different setups and such.

I was quite lucky to have tested just about the entire range of Senns/AKG and lower range of Grados 60/80/325/Allesandros MS1/2/pro before finally working with my own pocket and deciding on an entry level headphones.

Got a buddy of mine whom went nutz ordered a GS1K and then a RS1 and now is on Stax etc. As I said, something I aspire to eventually upgrade to, but not willing to spend so much for now.

As they say you will soon curse head-fi the forum as your pocket becomes lighter but your ears will bless you :-P
