Number of software ava online for purchase where you can do it yourself. They charge an arm and a leg plus there is the security issue.

You could try dead disk doctor, i used it quiet often, and its very good i would say. and its FREE!
Though i never used it on a harddrive just on cd/dvds and up untill today it has never failed to recover the data though it can be very time consumeing.
It says it can recover HDD files aswell so you might wanna give it a shot.

Still its a tool anyone with a cd/dvd burner should download.
