Hi,
I am moving out to HK in July. Are there any rock/punk/indie bands playing in HK? Do any American/British bands tour to HK?

Most of the bands in the clubs are filipino bands which do your top 40 covers. There are a couple of blues bars and some places tend to have better than average bands.

Not many bands touring hong kong thanks to the dumb arse policies which prevent promoters from using the outdoors stadium in HK for their events. Not to mention... dumb arse promoters themselves.

Best bets are for you to check http://www.hkclubbing.com for the entertainment scene in HK.

If you're interested in jamming with the local bands, then pop into the Wanch in Wanchai for their weekly gig night. Anyone remember which day this is?

It usually on Fridays and Saturdays when local bands play there. Check the door window or the chalk board inside for the latest gigs. The Fringe is also a popular place for local bands.

The have a notice board outside which was updated yesterday.

REM are set to come to HK later this year.

The Wanch has bands playing on Frid and Sat nights.
They also have a JAM night every wednesday as from 9pm.

you can see bands there playing some punk and alternative music. And if you play any instrument you can go there and try to jam with other
musicians.
