Can anyone recommend the best place to buy a mobile in HK and what are the best deals, especially if you will need to dial abroad a lot ?

Try checking for new promotions since alot pops up.. For the IDD calls try checking HGC 0088 which you just need to pay HKD$38 per month for unlimited calls to a number of destinations (including US, Japan, Canada, Germany, Singapore, etc).

Buy a mobile in the shopping Centre on Argyle Street between Tung Choi and Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok. Good place to buy just make sure to ask about warranty and they will normally tell you the price shown is for Chinese version and English is more. Just a heads up.

Sham Shui Po is also a good location to buy around Ap Lieu street. I think Mong Kok is better.
