| | | Questions about living in Happy Valley We're looking for a neigborhood near Causeway Bay where dog-friendly apartments aren't as hard to find. So I was hoping that some people here might be able to offer some insights as to life in Happy Valley.
1. Our biggest concern is transportation. Since the MTR is not close, how convenient are the buses?
2. How hard is it to grab a taxi in Happy Valley? Would it be tedious to have to do this every morning?
3. In general, how is life in Happy Valley?

| | | Where are you trying to get to from Happy Valley? If it's Central then the cheapest way is probably the trams... | |

| | | happy valley Getting a taxi in Happy Valley is really easy, they go up and down the roads 24 hours a day.
There are also minbuses that go pretty regularly into Causeway Bay, to the MTR etc.
There are also a few other bigger buses that go around HK.
Happy Valley is much more relaxed, then say Mid-Levels, and quieter.
Happy Valley is very popular with dog owners.

| | | Thank you for very much for the input. Are these bigger buses you mention those double decker trams?
PDLM, I'm trying to get to and from Causeway Bay.
According to the tram's website, it only takes 5 min from Happy Valley to Causeway Bay. However, in another area, they mention that there is a tram goes from Happy Valley to Kennedy Town and one that goes from Kennedy Town to Causeway Bay, implying that there is no direct tram between CB and HV. Does anyone know if this is the case?

| | | Take any tram from HV towards Shaukeiwan, Sai Wan Ho, North Point, or Causeway Bay and get off at the corner of Percival Street or right past the SOGO. | |

| | It is actually just a short walk from HV to Causeway Bay. But if you prefer tram, follow what tsuiwah said. The tram is leaving every few minutes in the morning (and you usually get a seat as it is the final stop).
Taxis not a problem at all. But don't take one to Causeway Bay, it is just too near.
Seems to be rather dog friendly here, plenty of people walking their dog.
Just have a walk around HV on the weekend or in the evening, you will get a good feel what life is like living here. I like it.

| | HV to CWB is walking distance for most locations in HV. You need to look at a map! http://www.ypmap.com | |

| | Thank you very much for the responses. They have been very helpful.
While Happy Valley may be within walking distance to Causeway Bay, it probably won't be for our purposes. This is a commute that my wife needs to make every day and walking 10-20 minutes in the summer heat with heels and a backpack that weighs about a third of her own weight is not something I'd like to see on a daily basis. (Okay, okay, maybe we're wimps )
Alot would depend on where we live in HV and where the company is in CB. At least for the last part, we can say that the company is located up the hill from Sogo (if that makes any sense).

| | Ah, finally found the location of the office. It's located in Sunning Plaza on Hysan Ave. So it seems like Tsuiwah's suggestion to get off at the corner of Percival seems like a good choice. But which corner? The tram doesn't stop at the corner of Hysan and Percival by any chance, does it?
Btw, thanks for the map, PDLM ... was looking for that!

| | | Happy valley is nice, I really couldn't ask for a nicer place to live in HK. I moved there 4 weeks ago from causeway bay, I had to get out of that area as it was just too noisy for me and was impossible to sleep without ear plugs. Happy valley is nice and quiet which I like. You have enough conveniences about to make life easy - quite a few restaurants and a wellcome and park n shop, plus starbucks and pacific coffee if you're into that. Loads of dry cleaning places too.
The buses are very reliable (at least so far), I work in central and take the number one bus from next to the sanitorium and hospital every day, it always turns up within 10 mins and the journey is usually around 20 mins so if you're going on a night out in LKF or soho it doesn't take forever to get there. There are always taxis driving down my road at any hour too. To get to causeway bay, take the tram like someone said. I've done that journey a few times and it's only like 5 minutes or so. Short of actually staying in causeway bay, you're not going to find a more convenient place to live if that's where you work (maybe wanchai, but I doubt you could have a dog in most places there and it depends if you want to live in an area like that of course) | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8.
