I have just changed jobs - my previous employer sponsored me for visa, but now I have left and there is some process where my visa is getting tranferred or that my new employer will apply for a new one for me in sponsorship. Meanwhile, while waiting for this application to come through which takes a while, I have family coming at beginning of September, and we want to go to China just over the border for shopping.
I've heard I can't leave HK if I want to come back until my new visa is through or transfer is complete. I don't know if I can accompany family to China. Please give some advice.

why don't you call immigration and ask them? i'm sure the would be able to help and you'd be guaranteed of getting the correct answer.

well you can go to Macau, then China should be fine too.

but as carang said, go to immigration and ask, they're nice about these things.
