Accountant recommendations

I will be moving to HK this week. Can anyone recommend a good tax accountant who can file both US and HK taxes for US citizens? I will be working for a US company but will be on a dependent visa since my wife will be a student there. Since I do most of my work online, would I get taxed in Hk as well? Are there any tax breaks for people like me? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Matthewkk,

dont worry about it. if your annual income is below 82,500 usd without housing allowance, your tax return (1040) should not be a big problem. You are entitled to a tax exclusion in the amount of $82,500 if you are working overseas. This is a dollar for dollar tax credit.

as for HK tax, the return is even more simple. tax rate is around 15-16%. With standard deduction and credits, the tax rate could be as low as 3-10% assuming you are not a top bracket taxpayer.

Since you would be physically in HKG, you are probably be taxed based on the income derived from HK. Again, it really depends on your situation. check with your employers.

I am AICPA originally from NYC. although i am not an individual tax specialist, if you have general questions, you may pm me.
