Dinner @ Pizza Express - 17th August 2006 (Thursday)

Hi, Geo folks,

Have met several times in bars and pubs, why don’t we get together in a restaurant and indulge ourselves in mozzarella cheese, pizzas, pasta, mousse cakes, and more importantly, nice conversations!

No age limit for the dinner – so you can bring along your kids and your grannies!!

So, Old Faces, do come and join us and let’s welcome the Newbies in Town! Newbies, we are waiting for you!

Date : 17th August 2006, Thursday
Time :
Venue opens at 6:30pm for drinks (for those who can leave before their boss; or those who get fed up at 5pm!) Dinner served at 7:30pm
Venue : San Marzano Pizza Express (address: 21 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central)
(Facing the Café Siam; Next to the Old Dublin Jack)
(For those who have no idea where are you on this planet, please let me know then I'll come and collect you)
Food : appetizer, pizza, pasta, desserts, wine...etc.
Fees : Estimate HK$200 per head, including food and two glasses of drinks. After 2 glasses of drinks, you have to order on COD!

** If each head cost less than HK$200, you all will have refund on the spot; if it exceeds HK$200/head, you will have to contribute a bit more. (But I will monitor the bill and keep it down to within the budget!)

** In order to avoid some “opportunists” who come and take 2 slices of free pizzas and disappear, we will collect HK$200 at the door.

** The more people we have, the more "free" desserts we will get...

Those who are interested, please put down your name here. Hope the above arrangement suit you all!

Jessica

Jessica,

What a great idea... I'm bummed that I'm going to have to miss this. I'm traveling this week and won't be in town.

Question of Taste

If you don't mind me asking is that place and the food (real) Italian or American Italian?

Certainly NOT American Italian! Well, those who have attended the dinner last time (e.g. Rani). perhaps you can give some comments for Philippe's reference...

Philippe : Definately as not bad as your American Italian places like Fat Angelos.

They do tend to really good pizzas and pasta dishes, and its overall a great meal. I would not classify it as authentic Italian, as one of my favorite pizzas is a Peking Duck pizza.

Uh... Pizza Express is neither Italian Italian nor American Italian - it's British Italian. It's a medium-to-upmarket Italian chain in the UK which has a couple of branches here. Their menu isn't quite the same here as in the UK, but both the food and the restaurant (at least the one on Lyndhurst Terrace) are very much in the style of the UK chain, which is a good thing.

The only thing to note is that their pizzas aren't huge - if you can eat a well-covered Pizza Hut pizza by yourself, for example, you may find Pizza Express' portion sizes leave you less than full.

As for coming, I'd say, uh, probably... Thursday is far too far ahead to plan right now

Philippe: Welcome Welcome!

Vmlinuz: I was worrying that it is quite a short notice but you think it's too far ahead. Good! Hope I can see you again Thursday! Eat a well-covered Pizza Hut pizza ?! Wow.. how? My maximum consumption is 3 slices and that it! I prefer those from San Marzano, lean and tasty
