Hi. Few days ago I bought 3-band Nokia (6681), and I bought it as coded for every other network, except for its home network. It's not a problem to decode it here (I'm from Montenegro, SE Europe), but almost none of the stores that do it don't do it for newer versions of 66-series. So, shortly said, I need to know if I could decode it in Hong Kong (I already have their SIM card). Thanks a lot.

Not sure what you mean by decode it. You can use your regular tri-band GSM phone here in HK with local SIM Cards ....

;) Well, 66-series has a special protecton code v2.20, which codes the phone, actually, it disables it to use any other network, but it home network. Some networks here does that, because(like in this case), if you buy a phone in lower price, they sell phone on which was put this kind of protection...

Ok, we'd call that putting a SIM lock on the phone. There are lots of places here where they will unlock it for you...

Not to be confused with unblocking phones, which is where a phones IMIE number has been blocked because it has been stolen. |
