Swim adult trainning sessions?

Hello,

I am in HK for one year and would like to find a place that offers swim training sessions. I could only find learning sessions so far... Or if not, a group of persons that would like to meet some evenings to make some swimming efforts!
Thanks,

Robin.

Hey Robin,
So it looks like you're looking for master swimming programs... unfortunately, there're not too many good ones in Hong Kong, so the best bet is to get a group of swimers that would like to do some training together. Since we're not training for any big meets so mileage might be a bit low, I usually swim about 3-4k in about an hour and a half if I go by myself. Leave a message if you're interested and we'll see what we can do.

Raymond

Hey Robin,

What are you after? beginner classes, stroke correction? individual/group classes?

I've just had 3 classes with a swimming instructor who does group or 1 on 1 classes. I could swim but not well/fast. The instructor charges about $600 for a one hour class, which may seem steep, but as it was "one on 2" classes, and we gained a lot out of it, I don't think it is too pricey, all considered. PM me if you're interested and I will get the contact details for you.

Also, the instructor will travel to most parts of the island to coach, i think.

If you want group training sessions, try looking at some swim clubs or triathlon clubs. The HK triathlon website has a few good links for that sort of thing.

HTH,

DDF

The YMCA has a Masters swim team that I'm thinking about joining, now that I'll be staying in HK longer than expected. If you're looking for structured workouts, it may be worth a look.

Here's the link:

Alternatively, if you manage to get a group of people together for workouts on a regular basis, I'd be interested in participating. I played water polo and swam competitively in the past and miss it very much.

A group of people together would be nice if we live or work more or less in the same area. For myself, I live in PokFuLam and work in Tsing Yi, what about you rayinhk and Raymond?

hey Stephrobin,
If you work in Tsing Yi, I would suggest to go to the Shing Mun Valley indoor pool in Tsuen Wan. It's short course, nicely air-conditioned, and the Tsing Yi outdoor pool just couldn't compare with it... I swam in both...
night session starts at 7:30, and we can get into for a lane swim for maybe tuesday? how's that?

Raymond and Rayinhk,

The YMCA team is taking me for a month to test my level. I'd like to try there first because it's very motivating and why not try to compete again! If they kick me out, I'll try to make a team of seniors in good shape (I'm 35) and I'll let you know. Thanks for your attention,

S. Robin
