Driving from Sai Kung to the Airport

In a weeks' time I will need to drive from Sai Kung to the Airport.

Can anyone give me some hints on the fastest/ best route to get there?
The more details the better!

Cheers

Expatriate has pissed of a few people
Several Possibilities:

a) Taxi
b) rented car, there is someone in Sai Kung who is doing that for $300
c) Bus 299 to Shatin and from there with the Airport Bus
d) Taxi to Mongkok and from there with the Airport bus
e) Airport bus from Choi Hung

f) Taxi to Airport Express Station

g) Take the minibus instead of the taxi

It seems clear to me that the OP already has a car (otherwise it wouldn't be him (or her) doing the driving) and is simply asking for the best route.

I don't drive in HK, and I don't live in Sai Kung, but since no-one else is answering, I'll have a go.

This site: http://www.td.gov.hk/mini_site/trans.../RouteMapM.htm
would seem to suggest driving to Choi Hung (if you live in Sai Kung I assume you know how to do that already). Then pick up Route 7 (at exit 8, see http://www.td.gov.hk/mini_site/trans...ges/Route7.jpg ), leave route 7 at exit 14E on to Route 3 (http://www.td.gov.hk/mini_site/trans...ges/Route3.jpg ) towards Yuen Long.

Follow route 3 to exit 5 and then take Route 8 (http://www.td.gov.hk/mini_site/trans...ges/Route8.jpg ) towards Lantau and the Airport.

Depends on how far "into" Sai Kung you are. My initial reaction would be to drive to Choi Hung then pick up Lung Cheung Road for the airport. It's signposted as soon as you get to Choi Hung.

Yes - I believe that Lung Cheung Road is the Route 7 referred to above...

I am not too sure which one is the shortest route. But I was under the impression that you have to go through Kwun Tong, then look for signs to go to Tsuen Wan. it should be via route 7 (Lung Cheung Road), you can look fon road signs, it should get you from Kwun Tong to Kowloon West). from Tsuen Wan to Tsing Yi, then you get on the airport expressway.

To be honest, your best bet is to ask a taxi driver. Or alternatively, you can just drive over to Kwun Tong, I am quite sure you can find the "airplane" sign to direct you there.

Thanks for all the comments.
Just one more thing:

:As I live half-way between Ma On Shan and Sai Kung...would it be faster to drive to Choi Hung then across...or through to Sha Tin and via the No. 9?

Any comments? Much appreciated.

If thats the case I'd probably go through Sha Tin and via the 9. A very quick drive through to Lantau from there and much less hassle than having to deal with the traffic on 7.

Just one word of advice, once you're through the Shing Mun tunnel on way to airport get into the left hand lane and turn left. It is signposted but there is a lot of construction going on at that roundabout and it's easy to get stuck in the outside lane, especially in rush hour.
