Exclamation Airport Transportation - NEED HELP!!

my girlfriend arrives tomorrow morning into Hong Kong at 5:30am (pending any delays). Can anyone tell me the cheapest/fastest transportation to the airport at that time?? The Airport Express doesn't leave Central until 5:50am and a taxi will cost an arm and a leg ($400 by one persons estimate here in my office). Any other ideas to make sure that i can get there at/before she steps out of the terminal??
i just spoke to her a short time ago pre-boarding in the U.S. and she's terrified right now so I can't afford to not be there when she gets in. I'm guessing my only option will be Taxi but would love any advice.....

If you take the first MTR and arrive by 6:15... I'd bet she would have just cleared immigration and picked up her bags. The entry process takes about 30 minutes, unless you're a HK resident and have your bags (on CX atleast) tagged as priority.

Ranji, thought about the bus service, but it too doesn't leave until 5:50am i believe which sitll doesn't put me there when i might need.

Knowitall, i figured it would take her about 20-30 min. to get baggage and get through immigration, but at 5:30 there probably won't be that much traffic there in the airport so she might slip through a little quicker maybe?!?

Thinking just to be on the safe side i'll just have to eat the cost of a one-way taxi fare then we can take the trains back.
Thanks for the help.

I think in the morning it only takes around 15 minutes, even for foreign visitors not having a HK ID card.
It is every time so amazing to see how fast they can handle everything...

Depends on where you are traveling from, it should cost only $200+ for those negotiable cabs to go to the airport. Let me know if you need the phone number.

Of course all of my plans will probably be screwed up by the fact that this storm is blowing through town and she could be delayed, which means i'll be sitting at an empty airport by myself waiting (and missing out on sleep!!!).

Rimo is an unknown quantity at this point.
A mini van service can take you there 25% cheaper than a taxi would cost, but it will not be as comfortable as a car.

try this

Hoi Lee Transport
2391-1111 or 239109191

I would say:

1. Keep checking

a. http://www.hko.gov.hk/contente.htm for the weather but I heard it'll just be heavy rain and wind. Signal #3 shouldn't be issued. But who knows?
b. (or calling) the airlines for the status of your girlfriend's flight

2. Tell your girlfriend to call you ONCE she leaves the airplane. There used to be FREE telephones near the gate. Are they still there?

3. Once you get the phone call, run to the Airport Express and take the first train. Or take the overnight bus as someone else suggested.

4. Go to Dim Sum with your girlfriend at the airport. Listen to her traveling stories.

Have fun!
