Stat Holidays & Vacation for employees

We are looking to move to HK and wondered what the would be the number of statutory holidays in HK per year and what would be considered normal vacation time for employees in HK per year.

I know that vacation may vary depending on international company packages, but we would like to know what it would be for a local HK company.

Many thanks for this help.

Stautory holidays are listed here, along with details of the legal minimum requirements: http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/faq/cap57f_whole.htm
The General Holidays are here: http://info.gov.hk/info/ph2006.htm

Most companies give the General Holidays to their employees. But some categories of workers (e.g. Domestic Helpers) only get the Statutory ones.

Paid holiday starts at 10 days (with some rules about how many you get in your first year) and goes upwards. Few people on truly local contracts seem to get more than 20 days, although a few get 25. I don't know anyone on a local contract who gets the 30+ days that are possible with some European companies.

shan : depends on what is negotiated in the contract. Senior folks tend to get a larger allocation.. the minimum US allowance seems to be two weeks.

I'm working for a the Asia regional HQ of a US-headquartered (NYSE-listed) company, on a local contract in Hong Kong. I get 20 days per year of paid vacation. My colleagues have allotments between 15 and 20 days.
