How important is CRM to a company

Hi guys,

I am just wondering if CRM is a crucial part of a company in HK and if every single company needs them?
Would they prefer to word/excel combo to keep track on their daily activities?

Looking for feedbacks

Thanks

Depends on what you classify as CRM.

Siebel's vision is fairly different from the run of the mill contact management.

Word and excel can work just fine for small companies as they're just tools in the process.

Most CRM software focuses on managing a few bits and pieces of customer / sales / project information. Rarely do they hook into business processes.

Hosted SugarCRM might be more convenient, you might even be able to install the community version on a cheap appliance like QNAP.

Hong Kong is mainly small companies, therefore IT isn't that important full stop. But the question is vague, how big a company are we talking, 1-5 users or 100,000+?
