Turning Netvigator Wireless

Hi All,

I recently got my netvigator and now tv connected and would now like to make things wireless.

I already have a wireless modem/router (Netgear DG834G) which I bought over from the UK but I'm having real trouble connecting it up.

First question is can I replace the modem/router provided by by the Netvigator people with my Netgear router and then connect wirelessly from my desktop PC (using a wireless USB adapter plugged into the PC) ? Are there any settings i need to make on the router ?

I tried to get this working last night but it seemed that the Set Top Box could not connect to get the TV signal using my router ?

I then tried leaving the Netvigator modem/router in place but just connecting that to my wireless router using a LAN cable. I was then able to access the internet wirelessly from the PC but the TV picture became real choppy and some channels would not appear at all...

Any advice on how to set this up ? Can't believe it should be this hard as I am reasonably IT savvy :-(

Rgds

Rick, you should not replace the Netvigator supplied modem.

Connect your router to the netvigator modem.
Connect your Now Broadband TV box to the netvigator supplied modem

Now configure your router to work as a PPPoE device and it should work.

Don't forget to do a hard reset on the Netgear box.

Any other settings ?

Are there any other settings to make on my router other than to change to PPOE ? There are some VC/LLC/Multiplexing numbers in there already (from my last ISP).

Also, should the TV picture be affected if I am using the internet at the same time ?

Thanks

No.

Like I said .. do a hard reset before you start configuring. All you need to change is the PPPoE user id .... not heard of any VC / LLC / Mux settings on a router.

Next step is to figure out how I can watch Now TV on my PC ! Any ideas on that ? Also how to get rid of the Netvigator Modem/Router and just use my own...
