How long have you been moving there? What is your feel? I see there is 24 hours shuttle bus and I suppose it is quite convinient. The problem is about security should I go back late night.

On the other hand, as advised by Carang, I will assume that the $8,400 rental does not include utilities?

On the other hand, does the HK$10-HK$20 for using the club house facility inclusive of swimming pool and other facilities as well??

Sorry, think i might have misled you. I'll be only moving in on the 13th Aug. I'm still in Spore at this point of time. I actually went there to have a look in June. To use the club facilities there, there's a HK$10 charge. And yes, the rent does not include utitilities.

if you're worried about security, don't be...

i came to HK 11 years ago...

i was 22 years old, female and straight out ofuniversity...
i used to be quite the party animal and out in wan chai until all hours of the day and night...

i have NEVER had a problem!

HK is one of the safest cities in the world!

not sure whether this help... I am now staying at Hong Kong Gold Coast service apartment. 734sqf, Rental : HK$13800 + maid service (twice a week) BUT exclude utilities. Shuttle bus going to Cental, Tsim Sha Tsui & Tsuen Wan MTR station. Very convenience as the HKGC shopping mall (small scaled) is just across the bridge. Fab. environment. Lots of expat. live here.

Thanks Wofie for the advice. How much time does it take to go to Tsuen Wan MTR station from Gold Coast? What facilities does it has? What is the average utilities fee?

On the other hand, I have been advised that the whole sum of rental is tax deductible (If it is paid by ourselves), is that right?

Am I right to say that if I am earning HK$300,000 per annum, and rental is HK$13,800 per month then the tax payable is
(HK$300,000- HK$165,600) *16%= HK$21,504

if it is taxdeductable, damn, i've not claimed it in the last 11 years!

i think that it is just interest on mortgages that you can claim...

i just filled in my tax forms and nowhere did i see a place to enter "rental payments"

If your contract of employment specifies a housing allowance AND if your employer exercises "proper control" that you do indeed spend that allowance on housing (i.e. rent) then yes you can save some tax.
