Hi I have been offered a position in HK and would appreciate some advice. I will be moving out from the UK in September and I am trying to decide on a place to live. Can anybody offer any views on Sham Wan Towers in Ap Lei Chau. I have a budget of max HK$12k per month and need a minimum of 2 bed rooms. I also have a daughter who will be 5 years old next year and was wondering if there is an ESF school close to Ap Lei Chau. Any advice will be gratefully appreciated

The best advice is to negotiate with you employer to give you 2 weeks in a serviced apartment when you first arrive here and do your looking around then. The different areas of HK have very different characteristics and it is, frankly, impossible to choose which one will suit you from a distance via the internet. Get here and then sort it out - get apartments sorted is very quick once you are here with the deposit ready to place.

I learnt that the environment is not bad. But there's no MTR at Ap Lei Chau so that you may need to depend on other transportations. If you will be working in Hong Kong Island side, that would be okay. Also, it locates at the very southern part of Hong Kong, you may find a bit far to travel to other districts, e.g. China, Airport, etc.
