Had it been the other way around, the post would have been deleted within minutes, if not seconds.

Our man here is into lagers, bars and cellars of German parentage - not the funny Canadian beverage abbreviated as MC*. That has to make a difference!

*I do like the same company's ME though (which one can't get here) as well as rival's Labatt Blue (could get their Blue and Ice in bars in Taipei even 8 yrs ago, cannot see any here).

No friend to spend with

Not easy to meet friends in hk...

The majority of ppl here are hard worker and busy, or then are attached with gf/bf. However, if they don't, they usually have their own social group

Living in hk is so boring...........

That's not true, GirlHKBR,...I'm not 'attached'...(wink, wink), and my social group could use a few new 'members'....what say?

I would rather believe that its not very difficult to make friends here. Sure everyone is busy and has their own lives....but thats true for every place in the world. I found it rather easy to meet new people here and make friends!
That's probably one of the reasons why I love HK maybe. I'm sure you'll have no trouble meeting people and making friends...all it needs is a little bit of effort and that first step!

Max is right when he says you should join his social group and me a "new member" here. Join in sometime for the usual weekend meetups we have
(Hey Max am I a member of your social group btw?? ;-)

Well, your situation is same as mine. I just got to HK. I work almost 7 days a week since we just set up a new office here. I hope soon I don't need to work that much at least get a day off of a week. I have the same problem where to meet new friends here. I'm 30, f. (too old?)

Hi! Well I do understand the 7 day work week phenomenon! When I moved to HK over 2 yers back to set up my company's office here...I had a similar schedule....7 days a week and about 100 hour weeks. Things settled down over time and though I still work 6 days a week....I do have a lot more time on my hands now. So hang in there

As to your problem of where to meet new friends...well geoexpat is a good place to start...and no 30 is not going to be old. I believe that our estemmed moderator would rather put you in the "right side of the 30's" category!

If you'd like...send me a pm and I'll add you to my mailing list for the next "Sat meetup" / Sun medidation group that happens!

Righto !

This seemed like the ideal thread to pop in and say a brief "Hi" to y'all.

I'm in UK at present, but will be joining you all in late August. Not sure what the city has to offer - as I only briefly visited in Jan on way from Shanghai back to UK. Glad I've found this forum, though. Looks ideal for getting to know what's what and who's who.

As for working all the time and playing none, just remember that if you're not careful life will just pass you by. Opportunities are ALWAYS available to meet people whther in the office, or sports or just waiting for the bus ! GRAB 'em !

Anyway, more from me later............
