Angry Prolonged Visitor Visa Vs Dependent Visa

Hi Everyone, I need some advise about Prolonged Visitor Visa and Dependent Visa. The scenario is I am currently staying with my partner in HK with a visitor visa (3 months). We already book our marriage in Sept. But because my visa doesn’t last until Sept (Expire Aug), I need to re-apply by traveling out (I am going to Singapore btw).

I can only apply for a Dependent Visa after married. Instead of waiting till that date, can I start applying for a Prolong visitor visa now? The main reason is I would like to save time because when it comes to Sept, I can start applying for a HKID straight after married (My partner is a HKID holder). I've been sitting at home for almost 2 months plus, I just want to get the visa out of the way so I can start looking for job.

Don't see that the prolonged visitor visa would give you any advantage over the normal one - it doesn't give you any extra rights, it's just for a longer duration. You still can't get an ID card and you still can't work. And the application will take a few weeks (took 4 when we did it).

You still need to apply for dependant visa (usually takes 4-6 weeks) and then HKID..

In any case if you are going to Singapore, you would get another 3 months when you revisit HK which will give you sufficient time to get married and apply for dependant visa (i.e. Change of Status from Visitor to Dependant).. Seems no need to apply for extended Visitor visa..
