Baseball is actually dominated by Latin America, regardless of who won the " Whole World Series".
i know mate...just some friendly banter between neighbours across that small pond ;-)

actually my basketball skills are far superior to my footy skills, but have been steadily improving on footy and hoping to join a sunday league team.

it's strange how football, the most popular sport in the world by far can be so insignificant in arguably the most influential country in the world.

have you heard the true story about the british and french troops playing footy on the frontline with their german counterparts on xmas day during WWI. this and the world cup signify just how inspiring a game can be...hence the following was coined: the beautiful game!

rickyvilla is on a distinguished road
Only now just coming down from cloud 9

but still have a very broad grin on my face

Shame there had to be a loser last night. But gli Azzurri were truly awesome in defense and brave in attack (knowing full well we'd lose a penalty shoot out).

I reckon Buffon, Cannavaro, Zambrotta and Pirlo could all make it into a World XI team based on this world cup. What do you reckon?

Onwards and upwards.......Forza Italia!

Most Americans consider soccer to be boring and, before you point out the obvious, not in the same way that baseball can be boring. Americans like points--witness the 3-point shot in basketball and how NBA refs ignore every rule if the move looks cool and results in a score. The NFL is constantly screwing with the rules to increase scoring and the NHL just did the same. The "experts" have been predicting the ascendancy of soccer in America for about 30 years now because of the large number of youths playing, but it seems those youths grow up and give up.
I knew that WW1 story. No wonder why the Europeans couldn't win the war.... Could be another reason why American don't like soccer. Europeans were playing it between nations during a war 90 years ago. I doubt any American knew what the game was 90 years ago.
