PDLM, I heard the Commies are already blocking all VoIP communications. So I guess Vodafone can do the same on their own network. They can simply block all Skype IPs so u can't even log in. That's my basic understanding.

Frankly speaking, $88 a month is not bad if you use it primarily for long-distance business calls over Skype.

Does anyone know if the sim card is locked to the pcmcia card they supplied?
- The SIM card is locked to the HSDPA data card.

Hmm... I guess I couldn't import a USB HSDPA modem then. lol

ok just so I'm clear, my hsdpa card in my dell latitude d620 will not work unless i buy the $2488 modem? So there's no way to just purchase a sim and slide it into my laptop because the sim's locked? thanks

There is also a new Sony notebook in the UK .. looks like an awesome combo package, which has an HSDPA card built in. I'm afraid it might be locked to T-Mobile.

is anyone using Slingbox on Smartone ? It was working until recently they blocked it on non contract sim.

Even though they're an advertiser here ... I insist -- refuse to pay for hardware that you already have.

I strongly belive it is a penny-wise and pound foolish strategy and will most probably change once a few more laptops are released with the HSDPA cards built into them.

The only trouble with the smartone unlimited service is that they rate limit you to bytes once you use about half a gig, which in a month is peanuts.

It's only useful as a travelling solution when you need it on occassion.
