Industrial SAP Solutions Consultant help

Hey all, sorry for jacking this thread, but I am also an SAP SD consultant but only have about 1.5 years under my belt. I have another year of Business Consulting behind that, so overall, 2.5 years of corporate experience with 2 big firms in the US.

I speak fluent Cantonese and English and have been to Hong Kong about 6 times to date, also counting a semester I took abroad at HKUST School of Business back in 2004. I have always wanted to work in Hong Kong, and was wondering if there was any helpful suggestions that anyone could give, regarding the market for "Jr" SAP consultants, expected salary, etc.

I had talked to my firm, because they are worldwide, but they said that the only way to work under the Hong Kong branch was to quit where I am and apply there since they are separate entities. Just wondering if that was what I should do or see what else is out there. I am also contemplating this because I feel that I am underpaid for the marketplace right now, but jumping to another firm after 1.5 years doesn't give employers the best impression (I switched from my first company because they did kept pushing back the SAP opportunities I was interested in because I was doing well in the project that I was on at the time).

Anyways, any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Hmmmm tough one, I'd maybe get another 6 months to a year under your belt with your current employer, Or test the waters now and apply to any of the big 4 accountancy firms in HK as they're going through the SAP upgrade from peoplesoft around now.

Also try some of the larger international recruitment firms such as Hudson and see if they can get you in.

thanks for the suggestion. I was planning on staying through the review cycle at least through to hit my 2 yr mark here. I'm not much into Accounting, but I am part of a company that is 4 times larger than one of the big 4...but maybe large isn't the way I want to go if I wish to attain more responsibilities and be more recognized within the company. I will look on this forum some more in the near future, thanks again for the info!
