Boarding Schools in Australia (NSW)

Hey all,

I would like any information people have about boarding schools in Australia, particularly in sydney, the reason im asking is because I would like to send one of my kids there for his 6th form studies or the equivalent, he has been a steady student in SIS, but lately we've noticed that the school is no longer what it used to be, with his intrest in mind we would like to send him to Australia for his higher education. Any infromation would be thanked greatly, as time is of the essence.
One more thing, as of now our budget can only support a school + boarding (if possible) around 90K HKD per year

Thanks once again

I know Kings school in rural NSW is an excellent boarding school for boys, otherwise in Sydney, try Scots College or Cranbrook, two of the best. Accademicaly, Grammar is the best, but I don't remember if they take boarders, plus it's hard to get into, it's all about excellent grades.
I'm not sure you'll find many co-ed boarding schools, they're usually boys or girls only... They're all pretty expensive though... Their websites should have the details...

Both TSC and Cranbrook are good school and have boarding facilities.
They are both boys school and they are located just next to each other.
I am not sure if your budget is enough for boarding fee too tho.

Cranbrook: http://www.cranbrook.nsw.edu.au

I am a scots boy myself

Boarding in Sydney

I went to Barker College in Hornsby on Sydney's north shore. It's in a fairly central area. It is a brilliant school and I had a GREAT TIME there!!
It takes boys from grade 3 (that's australian grade 3) until grade 12, and takes girls in the senior school from grades 10-12. It takes day students and boarders. I was always a day student; however the boarding facilities are fantastic.

Heres the website.

Thanks very much guys. Ill look into them asap, seeing how australia's education is different from here (vce) I might send him to NZ instead, partly because they do IB, Which if I am correct SIS is switching to next year but my kid's year is the last to do A-Levels...

Newington here. Not sure if the boarding school is still open. When I was there they culled it down 40 students so the vast majority are now day boys.

Your best bet is to look at the Greater Public School (GPS) network. There's a list of 8 or 9 schools, Newington, Scotts, Kings, Sydney Grammer, Riverview, St Josephs. Many have boarding facilities but bear in mind the GPS schools are the most expensive expensive schools in Australia so don't expect much change from $130,000.

Also consider the Combined Associated Schools (CAS) group of schools.

Any choice from these and you'll be good to go - well rounded education, sports, the arts, music etc.
