GPS, CAS and CIS are all good ones.
Cranbrook is part of CIS.

Just had a look at the fees and it looks like entry to the GPS schools for boarders is around the $160k mark.

Well, then should I wait till he turns 18 (2007) and then send him so he can get his own place? or I've also heard that you can board at those youth hostels is that possible?

Instead of a youth hostel, which is probably the last place where you want your son to live, why not look into families that take in students? It might be worth it to contact the school and see if they have parents' associations that could help you with that.

90K a year may just about cover school fees for students with Australian passports but boarding fees will be extra. If you do not have residency the fees wil be higher.

There will also be subject levies, House levies, excusions and camps to cover. Do not forget the 50 piece uniforms either lol.

Can also try this school in Qld:

I still keep in touch with my teacher.
she's an overseas student director, taking care of overseas students.
well educated, and she's a very nice person.
she has a lovely family too.

i wouldn't even recommend going to youth hostel at all.
homestay would be a much better option than youth hostel.

Ace - why specifically Australia? I know you mentioned higher education down the track but to be honest Australian insititutions simply don't have the same clout as their US or even European counterparts. I will say the quality of candidates Australian universities churn out are great and the education standards are significantly higher than the US. Unfortunately that (particularly the std 3 yr degree in Aus) doesn't translate to being competitive on the global stage; jobs, post grad studies etc (eg MBAs). Aus universities just don't hold the prestige other regions do.

altho US seemed to have better benefits, but it'll be easier to get into great university like sydney uni, university of new south wales, and UTS.
Unless you are going to berkeley, princeton and all those A school, i'd say ur chance lies better with great AU university.
I wouldn't send my kids to some crappy university just because they are in the states.
no offences intended.

Yeah same here (no offence) US is the last place I would send my Kid to, well my daughter already goes to a Uni there (Massart). Well I wouldn't mind having him do homestay in aus but the thing is that hes got a bit of a rebellious attitude... don't get me wrong hes an ace of a student (no pun intended), he does most of his own housework, he can even cook but when it comes to partying, hanging out.. like teenager stuff hes the rebellious kind so Im a bit apprehensive of him staying with other people, unless they can cope with this. The reason I want to send him to Aus is mainly because its close to HK as compared to UK or US and that he would like to study medicine there.

So you're an insider of Scots College. Can you tell honestly if there are bullying and drug cases in the school? Any negative comments? I want to send my son there.
