DivX-capable DVD Player

I'm looking for a DVD player that can play divx and xvid files. I've seen players such as the Philips DVP-5140 and some others by Samsung and BKK so I was wondering if anybody here has used such players and can recommend a good one.

Thanks!

I would recommend buying a used X-box and getting it hacked.

Then it can play everything including games and dvds all region free.

I don't know about the DVP-5140 model but I have a Philips DVP-720SA DVD player which plays DivX and Xvid movies (plus text subtitles) without problems for almost a year now.

What I suggest you to do is to bring along your own movie CDs and test different players.

Don't buy the Grundig DVD recorders. They play Divx movies but what they don't tell you is that you can't fast forward or rewind - duh!

LG, those have a good cpu. Best burn a disk and go down to the shop and test them all.

Thanks for the tips, I think I will definitely have to bring some DVDs/CDs that I have burned and test these at the store.

Pioneer probably have the biggest spread of formats playable on their dvd players, and the great thing is this is across their range so their budget players play divx (and virtually everything else under the sun).

Have a look at these things, they are awesome.

Definately better than a DVD player capable of playing Dvix files.
