What is the chinese term for stock brokers?

None of the online translators seem to be able to point to the right term.

Wingzz / Ohlala : thanks .. was doing an experiment with google translate and it came up with 证券经纪人 ... which did not translate well when put back into google ..

it is actually good enuf.

the googled first 2 character means securities, which imply stocks and other debtentures.

the last 3 characters means broker, and generally we drop the final character in normal conv cos it means 'human'...

what they gave u means 'stock brokers' literally. not the official terms

freeier is right. If I am not wrong, in some documents from HKSE /CCASS they do translate stock broker as 证券经纪人, but of course in tranditional Chinese.

Forgot all about the simplified / traditional thing when I used google. Also, "stock broker" ( 儲蓄經紀 ) and "stockbroker" ( 股票經紀人 )seem to produce diff results on worldlingo.

But it makes a world of a difference when doing search engine research.. i.e. what do people really type into the search engines when they're looking for a specific topic ... hard when you don't read / write or understand Chinese ..

We look at semantics from a search engine's perspective. When someone types apple into a search engine, are they looking for a fruit or are they looking for a computer...

Don't ask me why I'm getting involved in this experiment...

well, i am taking off my technical cap and talk from a non-tech perspective.

of cos if u want the tech portion, it depends on the kind of algorithm the search engine uses to come out with words. that's why chinese search engine is an interesting market...

chinese language is not as easy to interpret as english. when you use the apple example, the two cases are one a conventional noun, and the other a registered company name. in chinese, individual character means different things.

股 - not much meaning. used only in stocks
票 - means a ticket/certificate, train tix, cinema tix, or security certificates
經 - process (as in someone in between two parties)
紀 - refers to a 'unit/representative/business'. i.e. stock processing biz person.
人 - person

so by mixing and matching character u get tonnes of possible combinations.
