Renewing work visa

I know to extend a tourist visa it is done there and then (well after a two hour wait) at Extension Tower, but is it the same to extend/renew a work visa? My year is up soon.

Yeah. You need a letter or contract from your employer saying that you're still employed with them or that your contract is renewed.

Fairly simple process.

No, it's not on the spot - it's a mini-version of the application process. If there's no rush it takes 2 weeks if I remember correctly. You can start a month before the current one expires. My employer's admin people have always dealt with it - I've not needed to go to Immigration - they just needed my passport twice - once when then visited at the start of the process, and once to get the new visa stuck in it at the end of the process.

Well maybe it is possible on the spot if you're prepared to wait, but it's always been done in two separate quick trips by the companies I have worked for. Since there's no need to do it in one day (you have a one month window) then why waste time hanging around at Immigration?

Because the decor is so lovely, the staff so friendly, the chairs so comfortable - I could go on for ever about the delights of that place. Many a wonderful afternoon spent there.
