Gold Coast I think we have decided against the Gold Coast. We were there in March and looked at several apartments on Hong Kong Island and we are going to revisit a few when we move next month. Thanks for the advice.

Hi I am from Uk and stayed at Goldcoast for 6 weeks while I was working in Wan Chai. April to May this year. I loved it. Perfect. I am used to London Commuting where we travel into london every day for one hour. (and one hour back in the evening) It never took me more than one hour to get to the place where I was working. Door to Door. Usually 45-50 mins. Travelled at all times. Early morning to midnight. The bus journey is fantastic. Amazing scenery and views. Better than sitting on a London Underground train anyday..... Don't bother with Resort coach except if you only travel in rush hour and you want a garanteed seat on the bus. Otherwise, no need. Tuen Mun is great. Local, and you'll be the only non chinese. Friendly and bustling place. The appartments are clean simple but comfortable. Never had the aircon on. Just had the balcony door open day and night. Bliss. (maybe a bit too hot to do that in Summer. We got up to 34 degrees and cos I never had aircon on, I got used to the heat in two weeks. Facilities are perfect. Welcome Supermarket. Cafes and restaurants for if you don't want to cook. Very peaceful and safe. You have the best of both worlds if you stay there. Hongkong excitement and peace when you get home in the evening. Made many contacts. Had a great time. I would say: don't hesitate, stay there!!!! Paul Last edited by paulg; 07-07-2006 at 05:03 AM.

Bellagio at Sham Tseng (10 mins closer to the city than the Gold Coast) allows pets. Also has alot of facilities quite nice apartments. It sin a small village but has 2 supermarkets, 2 7/11's, lots of restaurants etc but is pretty local. Not many expats. There is a long thread on this forum from several of us who recently moved there so do a search if you want more info.

Agree with Larac - I usually recommend any prospective Gold Coast / Park Island / Tung Chung tenants to consider the Bellagio / Sham Tseng area as well. You get the best of both world really: city convenience, proximity to Kowloon / HK island and still the same views and greenery around that you can enjoy at Gold coast / Tung CHung. If you make the effort of finding out and adapting to them, there is also an excellent network of mini-buses to all major Kowloon and HK side, so I would not worry too much about commute.

^ no pets only apply to phase 2 or both 1 and 2? I've seen pets in and out of phase 1 quite frequently
