Question Compensation advice?

My company is prepared to transfer me to our HK office. Currently the offer is very level-- perhaps even downward taking into consideration the difference in cost of living.

Would approximately 26,000HK per month (after taking out the Housing allowance from the gross and subtracting the adjusted tax) by a reasonable compensation for an American accustomed to "western" behaviors and tastes. Would this be a fair amount for a consultant to earn? My research is suggesting more like 58,000HK gross per month minimum (about 37,000 per month perhaps after tax adjustment and housing)

Any one have any insight they can share? Just want to know if I'm missing something or if the offer is just out of line. Much appreciated
