Buying used cars for export to Australia

Hi,
New to this forum and looking for advice.
Does anyone know any contacts we could buy used prestige sports cars (must be older than 15 years) from. Who shoudl we contact? agents, car malls etc.
We are looking into exporting to Australia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Gazza,

I'm interested in the reverse direction, Australia to HK.
If you have someone there for checking cars maybe we can work out something nice.

I'll be back in HK in one month and maybe we can discuss it.

Ciao
Roberto

Doesn't Australia impose a large tax (perhaps 100%) and require some work to be done before allowing the car on the road?

Something hefty like that but given the extortionate prices in Australia you still end up making a profit.

Roberto,
We are based in Australia and travelling to Hong Kong today. Would be interested in talking.
Please contact when you are back in Hong Kong so we can discuss more.

The import duty is why the car has to be older than 15 years, hence why we are looking for prestige, high end cars. The likes of Porches, Ferraris etc.

Any help greatly appreciated, so we can look while we are in Hong Kong.

Thanks everone.

Hello All,

I have lived in HK now for a long while, an up until recently dealt in cars, firstly for the british military, secondly for an auction house over the years most of them went to south africa zimbabwe some to uk, but these not high end motors.

I am now thinking of doing exact same thing but sending them to UK, there is not a lot of profit, but the beuty of the HK motors a lot of them are low mileage.

Not sure what the shipping rate is to Oz but uk with handling charges will be about 1,800usd, then VAT then import duty, first regidtration fee, changing speedometer to miles on a fancy car quite expensive

But on a high end motor, it could be a goer,

what car would you get from oz to sell in hk?

second hand cars are cheap in hk but many cars are imported from japan because it is even cheaper to source from there. add to the charges maxwonga said you got oz compliance to pass
