Expansys are selling it for 3960 so it should be cheaper in real shops. I saw it in Fortress yesterday but can't remember the price.

I helped my friend buy one when he visited HK last month. It was around $3000 but that was for a Japanese "Water Cargo" version. He lives in Canada, so wouldn't be covered by the HK warranty anyway. We looked at many places, and that's the cheapest I found at a trustworthy vendor (i.e. NOT in TST).

He bought it at one of the stores that is in that tall building in MK right be the E2 exit... Each floor is a different AV/electronics shop.

An HK version will be at least $500-600 more than what he paid.

But the way my friend saw it, he paid about $400 CAD for it. No taxes, no duty (but no warranty). His alternative would be to buy it in Canada for $600 CAD plus 14% tax. That's a difference of almost $2000 HKD!

You might not give up a warranty for $500 HKD, but I bet you would if the difference was $2000

Sure especially if I was taking it out of HK. But living here I am not so sure. If you're saying buy it without a warranty for 3000 or for 5000 with a Canon warranty then I would be sorely tempted. Seeing as the actual difference is probably less than 600 then maybe not.

Just been to Leading AV Centre, Johnston rd Wanchai and they have it for 3288 'hong for'.

in canada now they have the s2 for $400 canadian works out to about $3100 hk taxes in . you can get the s3 for just over $4000 hk taxes in. much cheaper to get it in hk.

also looking at the fuji s5200 has only 10x optical and a 5 mp camera. anyone know the price, it's a bit cheaper than the s2 or s3
