going out in Hong Kong So a follow up to many of the similar threads...I am an intern in Hong Kong from the states and have found the nightlife to be hit and miss. I work with a few other interns but none are that interested in going out...how safe is it for a single girl? Where are some good places to go? I have spent summers in Paris, NY, and DC and have not found the nightlife to be quite this difficult to find. My schools is in a smaller city in Texas and I have found it easier to go out there than here, and i had such high hopes for Hong Kong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

No worries Hey Baylor girl! It's just the beginning. There are a lot of paces to go out here in HK. You just need to know them! a good start is always Lan Kwai Fong and Wanchai! You should have fun there. Don't forget it always depends who you're with! I lived in Tulsa, OK so I know Baylor, TX a bit. Anyways, I'm sure you'll adapt...

Well, we can always meet up and go for a drink one day. What kind of atmosphere/place are you really looking for? I travel quite a bit for work but I am sure we can arrange to all meet up someday. Take it EZ

Just got home from LKF. I talked to a bunch of people from all over the US tonight...from California to Houston to New York City. LKF = Lan Kwai Fong for the uninitiated. Personally I prefer going out in New York but HK isn't so bad. You can still have good nights...tonight just wasn't a good one for me.

Seriously though in a lot of places it can be a bit of a hit or miss, One night its a great crowd and the next night its dead. Happens all the time. |

HK Nightlife As mentioned by someone before, LKF and Wan Chai are both good places to start. For food in Soho try the places along Elgin St. For food in LKF, Lux along LKF itself has a good crowd of regulars and the food/ service is very good there.

I got here last weekend from the UK and have yet to meet another intern who was interested in going out at all. Did you guys find any good places to go out on your own to meet people (for someone who doesn't speak a word of cantonese)?
