You are a CA and still have difficulty with job search. I am sure it is not going to be easy for me. Are you working and studying for your CPA at the same time? I am continuously taking PD courses to update myself, but currently not studying for any additional qualification. From the sound of things, it may be better if I study for additional qualification first.
Yes, I definitely approached them and their response was much much better, concrete, straight and sincere than most other recruitment companies in HK!! They are the best I've found in Hong Kong. I so much want to mention the name of the worst agency here and save other people's time spent in meeting them but, no sense defaming anyone this way so will better hold back my temptation of doing so.

I am working and studying at the same time. It is difficult but, I prefer it this way rather than sitting at home full-time and studying. Taking an additional qualification is not essentially the sure-shot way to grab a job in HK but, if ONLY job hunting is doing you no good, why not add to your resume. And from the various job descriptions that you read, try and pick up a skill which really seems to be in demand and go for it.

And yes, bigfatape is right, if you plan to take-up CPA, go for the US-CPA rather than HK-CPA. I am also studying to be a US-CPA. Let me know if you need details about the review course wich helps you prepare for the US-CPA exam, I'll PM it to you.

Yes, studying and working at the same time is difficult. That's how I have got my last designation. Like you, I rather work and study though....sitting at home and just study...doesn't do for me.

If possible, please PM me details of preparing/getting the US CPA

Cheers,

I suppose . . .

Since this thread hasn't been posted on for a while. I think I can safely assume that everybody is gainfully employed, having their collective noses to the grind-stone(s), working away dawn to dust, making tons of $$$ for their respective Lao-Bian(s).

Being in HK, I'd say ACCA is much better. I admit I may have said US CPA in some other thread but after a good experience with job search now, I have to say the recruiters here accept ACCA more openly.
Unfortunately, the way they look at your resume is very 'bookish' and 'dumb', if I may say. They want to see the words which have been taught to them during their candidate search training or whatever; anything even slightly different is unacceptable.
I am still working and doing my US CPA, haven't my mind on that one since I am in the middle of it now. For anybody starting afresh, I'd definitely recommend a local HK degree like ACCA.
