Try your larger branches of your sporting goods shops like Sporthouse, Royal Sporting House, or similar. They should have them. However, you'll either have to look hard for them (as they don't display them that well) or ask the staff.

By dumbbells I take it you mean free weights, one for each hand/arm, that type.

Tip: it's easier to carry them home in a rucksack that you can sling on your back rather than in a carrier bag with one arm.

those will have them, but probably only up to around 5 kg.

if u are looking for more than just heavy pencils, try biotfit (http://www.biofit.com.hk/eg/main.htm, their showroom is in ocean terminal basement)

they will have heavier dumbells, and other workout equipment. i got a workout bench from them as well. excellent service.

If you are in Central then there are a couple of places on Connaught Road - head towards Sheung Wan from the escalater.

If you are looking for cheap dumbbells, try Mongkok. I bought a Joerex 15kg set for around HK$250(?). The shop was located on the 2nd/F. It is opposite of the China Travel Agency (Nelson St and Sai Yee St). It's close to the MTR station and Mongkok Computer Centre.

Just got back from Tin Hau and there are two small sports shops on Electric Road behind the MTR/bus station.

The same place I mentioned above. The price in Mongkok should be one of the lowest. There is one on the 2nd floor. There are 2 more on the ground level. There is another one on Fa Yuen Street (sneakers street) where most of the shops sell sportswear and sneakers. I don't know if you are a local Chinese or if you speak Cantonese at all. It is always a good idea to go shopping with someone who knows the local stuff in order not to get ripped off.
