Juice of 1/2 a lemon A very large shot of whisky 3 tbs honey The idea is to get equal amounts of each of the ingredients and I think this gets it close. Put them in a mug, put the mug in the microwave on high for one minute, stir and enjoy. The honey will soothe your throat, the lemon will give you vitamin C and the whisky will help you sleep I normally triple ingredient number 2, only assist the sleeping

Cure You drink alcohol? Hot toddy, Whisky and hot water, works every time. Does nothing for the cold really but I find if I drink enough I don't care anyway.

1) Walk into 7-11/ Watsons.. Pick up pack of 'Coltalin' based on your symptoms.. 2)Walk into nearest Pharmacy.. Tell your symptoms and get couple of bags with colourful tables.. Works best for me.. Usually i ask them not to give antibiotics.. Excess Vita C works fine for me in Flu..

There is no cure for the common cold, so all you can do is mitigate the symptoms. Painkillers, fever-reducers, decongestants etc are all available over the counter - it just depends which symptom is bothering you most. And, as nivantj says, avoid antibiotics - they have no effect on the cold (which is a virus, not a bacterial infection which is what antibiotics tackle) and overuse of antibiotics is a bad thing. Your immune system will deal with the cold in 10-14 days regardless.

You take: 1. an anti-histamine. this dries your passages up. The cold feeds on the mucus it generates, so if you dry your nasal and other passages up, it has less to continue feeding on. 2. an anti-inflammatory. This shrinks swelling of the tissues. There are many brands of anti-inflammatory, so pick the one that agrees with you. You take both of each of these as many times a day (2-3 times) as needed to allay the symptoms. This also knocks the cold out sooner. Using this method, a cold with me last lasts about 2 days. Last edited by sarpesius; 10-04-2007 at 12:24 PM. Reason: fine tuning |

Sarpesius has a valid point abt the anti inflammatory. It works wonders for a sore throat too.
