Hey everyone,

I just have a question for all of you. Did most or all of you guys come here on a visitor's visa and found employment here? Thanks.

Steve

hi geohk,

yes. i entered the country as a visitor. it's valid for around 3 months. i just got my visa so i have to "activate" it by going through the hk immigration/customs. hence, got to leave hk for macau, and then come back to hk for the visa to be stamped.

i hope everyone waiting for it gets it fast! cos the wait was excruciating!

i have a postgraduate degree. but from what i have read in the forum, it boils down to either the pay package (more pay you got, the more tax you can contribute) or the experience that you have in the particular field that a local can't replace.

no idea, really.

Another question from me? Do you all have degrees/diplomas? If the applicant has lots of work experience, do you think the educational background is going to be a problem?

Would like to know more... Thanks.

Did an ImmD official actually explicitly tell you that? I ask because I and many other people have reported here that we never had to do this - ImmD put the visa in our passports and we were good to start working immediately.

I've the same question as well. I'm in Spore now and I called immigration to check if my visa was ready. I think I might be entering the country next month on a tourist visa and then pick up my work visa from work. Does that mean that I have to leave the country again? Oh no....i'm a little confused!
