I just got my MacBook this weekend, my first non-windows computer. Been very happy with it, except that I am having problems playing DivX .avi files. I tried to get all the codecs and tried the ffmpegx and DivX Doctor programs, but after many hours of searching I have video but no audio, even with the ac3 audio codec.

Normally I would figure it our for myself, but I have spent so many hours and did everything the apple/divx forums said and still no audio. Extremely frustrated. Can anyone tell me if I am missing any codec components?
DivX, msmpeg4v1, msmpeg4v2, on2vp3, 3ivx D4, ac3, xvid are already in the quicktime library. I use QuickTime 7.1.1.

You can try this free software videolan media player.

I am not a Mac user, so I dont know if this player any good with Macs.

Dunno about codecs, but I'd grab vlc from Videolan and expect everything to just work.
