| | | Small custom 1 night tours? Hi,
So my mother (a teacher in USA) is going on a trip with her students around China for 3 weeks. They will be coming into HK on 6/30 and flying back to USA the next morning.
There will be 19 kids, and 3 teachers, and me and my girlfriend. total 24 people.
They are staying in Yau Ma Tei and will arrive in early afternoon.
I was thinking of having them walk around Jade Market and Temple Street, and then go to the Peak.
The Jade market and Temple street should be easy cause its right near their hotel, but getting to peak and back is a bit tricky. Is there a bus they can take directly to the peak? or is there a tour bus (or something similar) you can rent out for 1 day? I would prefer no tour guide, but it doesnt matter much.
The thing is it needs to be relatively cheap, cause they are HS students on a HS trip. its a budget afair, but I think it could be possible.

| | | You should take the star ferry ride to HK Island, thats a bit of a treat in itself! Then from there (ask the information office) take either a double decker bus to the peak or a mini bus to the peak. I wouldnt suggest the tram as its quite expensive these days! If you have a map there is a nice trail walk down back to Central from the peak (though slightly steep).
Hope that helps!
Have fun :-)* | |

| | | so what would you suggest then for 24 people from 4 pm to midnight (most of which are highschool kids on a field trip from USA.
Remember they are staying at Yau Ma Tei, and we can't really split up in several buses or whatnot. We need to be 1 group.

| | | lol...need i remind you this is a high school budget...must be cheap as possible.....
24 people would be a lot of cabs....and only 2 of us know where we are going...so i dont think that would work well...nice offer though...

| | | As one said before: Take the Star Ferry, that's definitely a great experience for them...
From there, why not take 5 taxis? No problem at all, and also quite cheap if you put 5 people in a cab.... The cab drivers on HKI do understand English much better than those on Kowloon side.
SO all in all a damn nice trip for the students, costs around 30HK$ per person for a taxi / star ferry return ride.
Enjoy... | |

| | | well...i do think the double decker bus is a nice ride to top of peak along that windy cliff edge road.
i was thinking:
we take the MTR from YauMaTei to TST, then walk to Star Ferry, take ferry to Central, then walk to double decker bus, then bus to top of Peak, then return by taxi to YauMaTei.
If we go at 6 ish, we can see sun set on peak, then go back to YauMaTei for Jade Market and Temple Street at night time.
So my only questions:
1. How to walk from Central Star ferry pier to double decker bus?
2. What bus # do we want to take?
3. Where is a cheap place to get dinner? somewhere fun possibly, but definitely very cheap, and edible (either YaMauTei or Peak) that would be easy to fit into our trip.
